Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American and Canadian musician and singer. She has released over 20 albums. Her songs are classified by the label as folk and alternative rock. They also are influenced by hip-hop, jazz and punk. Ani DiFranco is widely recognized as a feminist icon and Grammy award-winning musician is thought to be the creator in DIY music. It was one of the first musicians to launch the label she created in the year 90. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September 1970 in New York City, York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who was introduced to Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother is from Montreal as is her father, who is Italian heritage. Ani diFranco wrote and performed the track 32 Flavors. The track is part of her 1995 album Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio album. The song was featured in the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was reported that she would be hosting a three day workshop at a Louisiana plantation for slaves. The course was later cancelled however, she did not express any regret. DiFranco apologized again a few days afterwards. While she is known by the name of Little Peoplesinger, she's been in contact with a myriad of musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D up to Prince. The singer lives in New Orleans.
